Health that grows from the land

We collect mindblowing amounts of plants and plant material from the wild and from the land we got to cultivate. However, the way we have been doing this in the past few centuries, and moreover the past seven to eight decades, has been unrespectful and extractive, destructive and unsustainable. We have destroyed, depleted and polluted much of our environment and the resources we rely on for our survival and wellbeing. We are well underway in destroying life on earth as we know it today.

Plants are amazing beings. Over time - millions of years - plants have developed strategies for survival that we as humans can learn and benefit from in many different ways. They have done that in collaboration and symbiosis with many other plants and life forms, and even with humans. Anything developed by plants, from the roots to the stem, the leaves, the fruits and the seeds, can serve us just as much as it serves them. They can not only support us in our day-to-day life, but can also be great allies in restoring health, and even the damage caused by humans, if only we start collaborating with them again.

Shouldn't we start relating to nature and plants as friends and allies again? Medicinal agroecology was developed as a concept to do just that, starting with agriculture.
